To the OP -- you're not alone. Everyone experiences the hair thing differently. There are a lot of genuine long-hair fans who also enjoy haircuts. But there are also some long-hair fans who are deeply disturbed by the loss of beautiful long hair.
I love long healthy hair including all of the sensory delights it brings. I love seeing brushing, braiding, bun drops, and all of the different looks long-hair can create.
But I also see the eventual logical progression to a short-hair transformation which I see as an intense striptease more sensual than taking off any clothing or lingerie.
I don't see an appreciation for hair cutting as a power thing but as a bittersweet metamorphosis. I find it incredibly sad for a Rapunzel to loose her length and even the thought of it gives me great trepedation. Those strong emotions intensify my interest in the long hair, the transformation, and the new look.
